Latex
Mattresses |
| It used to be when someone
talked about a latex mattress the understanding was you were
talking about a solid block or "core" of blended
latex. Blended meaning a combination of natural latex mixed
with synthetic latex. These latex cores, of different firmness,
would be encased in a mattress cover and presto you have a
great mattress that would last up to 20 years. These mattresses
were always at the extreme high end of the market in pricing.
As an example, in 1970 when a premium queen size mattress
was selling for $350 a solid latex mattress was selling for
$1,000. |
| Latex mattress combinations..
|
| The variety of mattresses
being manufactured and advertised as "latex mattress"
has increased by leaps and bounds in the last 10 years and
moved away from the traditional concept, into hybreds and
combinations such as latex with poly foam, latex with memory
foam, latex and innerspring units, latex and pocketed coil
units, zoned latex, and layered latex, just to name a few.

| Brands, Niche Players, and Specialists |
Nature's Rest is latex
line of mattresses manufactured and distributed in United
States and for many years the only "complete latex mattress
line" other that niche players on the internet such as
FloBeds and Sleep EZ. Sealy entered the market in 2003 with
their own latex line but failed to impact the market due to
major flaws in design. After floundering for the first year
they finally came up with their "Reflection Line"
and are now the most recognized latex line along with Natures
Rest. Advertising and distribution are the key elements in
its new found success but quality, and brand name is the foundation.
Along side these two lines are a multitude of
latex mattresses brands, that rival or exceed the quality/value
of Natures' Rest and Sealy Reflection. Both of these lines
use a combination of less expensive latex, and poly foam in
the construction, along with a portion of better "talalay
process" latex. Other established smaller manufacturer
compete with an all "talalay process" product, or
an all natural product. It cost more to manufacture but is
a better product in the long run. Here's a tip when trying
to get the most value elsewhere after encountering sticker
shock for the Nature's Rest and Sealy. Look at the manufacturer
and how long they have been in business. Look at the components
in the product to determine the quality, and look at the dealer
selling the product and their track record. |

of a persons body. |
| The many names given to latex combinations...
